12 Ultimate Vacuum for Tile Floors in 2024
Has a higher technical education. More than 10 years working as a manager in a household appliance store. He is interested in technology from an early age.
Maynard S. MitchellWith more and more households moving away from carpeting and towards tile and hardwood floors, it may be time for you to change out your vacuum. But deciding on the best vacuum for tile floors can be different than what you're used to shopping for.
As a mom, I like my time spent cleaning to be at max efficiency. This doesn’t include using my oversized household vacuum like an oversized dirt spreader on my tile floors!
If I am using a machine on my flooring I want it to do the job right and do it quickly. It is essential to me that my littles are playing and crawling on clean floors.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away is an extremely popular model with raves for reviews. Because it is well made and built to last, the price tag is more affordable than it may seem at first. I am more willing to pay a little extra up front if I know the machine is going to last and I won’t be replacing it in 6 months for something equally or more expensive.
One of the more lightweight models, coming in just under 14lbs, it is great for pushing around the floors with ease. Even better, this also has the lift away feature for those harder to reach spaces and safe use on stairs.
The ease of use and swivel head design of this machine says “built for families” like you wouldn’t believe! I am so much more likely to use a machine that takes some of the chores out of vacuuming my whole house. This unit has people like myself in mind because:
It has auto-adjust for maneuvering from carpeted areas to your tile or hardwood floors. No switches, no buttons, no additional accessories. It’s all automatic. You can also turn off the roller brush to prevent scratches if you do have areas of hardwood flooring in your home and are concerned about scratches.
Another thing that keeps this Bissell vacuum affordable is the fact that it comes with all the accessories and 2 microfiber pads specifically designed for hard floors, like tile work. A favorite accessory feature is the fact that the attachable microfiber pads have suction in front of the pad (for larger debris) and behind it (for fine dirt and dust). The pads are also machine washable and therefore reusable so that is music to my ears!

This next product is a Bissell product and is more geared to cleaning than vacuuming. This PowerFresh Steam Mop comes highly esteemed and with a great, budget-friendly price-tag.
This Bissell does not possess a vacuum function so the option of use is a bit more limited but the rave reviews it gets for cleaning tile floors earns it a spot on my list. Many reviewers also shared pictures of before and after shots with this particular model and can I just say... Wow!
One of the best things about owning a steam mop like the Bissell Powerfresh is that using steam is a safe and easy way to clean up to 99.9% of household germs and bacteria. With little ones around, moms today are becoming more and more cognizant of what types of cleaners are being used in the home.
The steam mop is a great way to avoid using harsh chemicals and still ensure your surfaces are properly clean and disinfected.
This steam mop only weighs about 8lbs, but this is before water is added to make sure you plan for a small addition to weight once it has water added. The manufacturer recommends using distilled or demineralized water to preserve the life of the unit since hard-water can be really hard on the heating elements inside over time. This is an added cost to consider when purchasing this steam mop, however, the mop pads are washable and reusable which can offset some of these concerns.
This is a corded unit so you will need a power source in fairly close proximity to your cleaning area. However, the cord is 23 ft long so there should be less need for moving the power source as you clean. The steam settings are adjustable depending on your particular needs or the urgency of the mess. More steam for a sticky, set mess, lighter steam for those quick cleans before the mother-in-law shows up!
But
There are no motorized functions with the unit at all. There is an attachable scrub head but it’s going to take some elbow grease to use that (more like a traditional mom head would be).
I sort of expected to see some rotating heads or something to help scrub, especially for uneven flooring like tile floors. The reviews don’t lie however at it does seem to do a great job in tight spaces and on grout joints.

This Bissell product is by far the most affordable on my list for best vacuums for your tile floors. It also happens to be the most uniquely shaped. In my research with this particular unit, it finds mostly love with its users, but some really can’t get used to the V-shaped vacuum head.
The Bissell PowerEdge Pet Hard Floor Vacuum is built with your tile and hardwood floors in mind. Ideal for families with pets it is made to pull pet hair into the unit rather than spread it around as so many powerful vacuums have the tendency. Many users noted watching hair move toward the vacuum from across the floor due to the powerful suction this unit offers!
The unique V shape design and swivel head are great for getting around furniture pieces with ease and each end of the V shape is equipped with its own area of suction to max the maximum use of the surface area.
That brings me to one HUGE pro I find with this vacuum:
While it may lack in some of the bells and whistles its top competitors share, it is extremely lightweight.
Weighing in at only 7lbs I can see this being really hand for quick jobs! It is also specifically built for hard floors, though some users noted that it will do a decent “quick” job on carpets should circumstances call for it.
However, many users note that it makes it difficult to get into corners and occasionally up against baseboards. I can see this being a problem in small spaces or if you were to try to use on stairs. There is no lift away feature and the unit does not collapse or come with additional accessories. It does, however, have an easy empty dust canister which I really like.
This is a corded vacuum and has the shortest cord among this top three best vacuums we have considered so far. The vacuum cord is only 20 ft long, which sounds like a lot until you are looking for the nearest outlet, so I wish there were a few extra feet.
However, that would affect the weight and ease of storing this unit, so it is "give and take", I suppose!
V shape design and swivel head
7 lbs extremely lightweight
Difficult to get into corners
No lift away feature
Shortest 20 ft long power cord
Coming in at number four on my list is another floor cleaner, not necessarily a “vacuum”. This Hoover product is called the FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner and it is definitely built with hard floors (particularly tile floors) in mind. This hard floor cleaner is specifically designed to perfectly clean your floors and leave them clean enough to eat on.
Specially designed SpinScrub brushes
These specially designed brushes are made to do all the “heavy” work for you. This is ideal for tile floors because they tend to be uneven and the grout joints can be easy to miss without a little elbow grease. Personally, I have no desire to clean my tile floors on my hands and knees to get that perfect clean! Additionally, if you are transitioning from a tile floor to a softer hardwood, you can turn off the spinning brushes to prevent scratches.
Wet/Dry Feature selection
Although this Hoover product isn’t technically a vacuum by nature it does have wet and dry functions. The wet function is for your more intensive clean and does use the water tanks. The dry feature, on the other hand, simply uses the suction feature of the device to pull up extra water and hasten drying time. This is great if you are cleaning in a hurry and need to dry quickly or are concerned about little ones slipping on wet floors.
Dual Tank Technology
Dual tank technology has become one of those little luxury things that take your cleaning experience from drab to fab! I love that the two tanks keep the clean water and dirty water separated so I am sure to get the best clean possible for my household floors.
A few other bonuses in using this product if you do have the ability to add extra water/detergent in the event of a very sticky or difficult to clean the mess. With toddlers and children in the house, this is not an uncommon occurrence, so it is reassuring to know I have a machine that is prepared!
It is also on the lighter side of things coming in around 14lbs empty. I wouldn’t say it is the lightest machine we are comparing in this article however, it is easy enough to maneuver and transport to different levels of your home if necessary. Just keep in mind if you have a full tank of water/detergent on board you are likely adding a couple of pounds to this weight.
But
I only found one major con to this product that was mentioned consistently among fellow reviewers. It seems that while the motor is powerful, they don’t last long. One user mentioned burning out two motors in just 6 months. Now I am not sure if this was specific to her bad experience but after reading more.
I did find that many others were saying similar things about losing power and burning out before their time. At the price tag this floor cleaner pulls, I would expect a little more from the motor and this is something that may make me hesitate to purchase.
Additionally, the cord on this unit is on the shorter side, coming in at only 20ft. So while it may be easy to carry up and down stairs you may find yourself searching for an outlet more often than you may like.
All in all the Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner seems to have all the right features for expertly and easily cleaning tile floors in your home. However, be wary that it doesn’t have a long lifetime and that all of those features mean it pulls an affordable, but the higher price tag, than some of these others on our “best” list for your tile floor vacuum.

This unit is much different than the units we have looked at so far as it is the first unit we are reviewing without the bag-less dust canister option. This small, compact and lightweight unit is highly versatile and according to users, even though you are using a bag, it will last you a long time!
This vacuum is great for toting around the house and cleaning all your messes big and small. It has a compact design and comes in among the lightest of the contenders at just about 9 pounds. This makes it ideal for toting up and down stairs and even carrying out to the garage or driveway for a quick vehicle vacuum.
I really like the design of this one because I can see this easily storing in small spaces and yet being accommodating enough to reach all those small, hard to clean, places throughout the home.
This unit is great for use around the whole home and it does have a low cost up front which I find appealing. For the price you not only get one of the best vacuums for your tile floors but also something that will help you effectively clean the living area, bedrooms and even your vehicle. All without breaking a sweat!
The power code/extendable hose options.
I can’t imagine a better scenario where my household vacuum can not only powerfully clean my floors but also reach places that are hard for me to reach.
Because of the design, this unit implements is ideal for getting right up against baseboards, under furniture and even vacuuming up high for ceiling fans and high ceilings.
This vacuum really does eliminate the need for other dusting/cleaning units by being so versatile. The design also makes it great for storing neatly, even in the smallest spaces.
The bag is easier to clean than bag-less options.
As you can see the Pro’s outweigh the Con’s if you are considering a purchase of this Eureka vacuum for your tile floor cleaning needs. A note on the bag option is that several of the users reported the bag being quite large and lasting up to 6 months continually. Also changing is a breeze and mess free so it isn’t like your grandmother’s old bag vacuum!
Extremely lightweight and portable
20ft power cord with large extendable hoses for added length and reach
Powerful 12-amp motor provides long-lasting suction and power
Comes with all accessories

The bag is quite large and lasting up to 6 months continually.
The Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub combines a few of my favorite things from the other floor cleaners we have looked at so far. Not only does it carry the Hoover household name, it guarantees clean and spotless floors with its SpinScrub technology and dual canister design.
This is the first unit in our best vacuums for your tile floors, to combine the 3 essentials for a spotless tile floor. It can vacuum debris, wet and scrub the floor and then dry the excess water leaving a spotless finish behind. You can select to use each of the modes by means of a very clear, easy to use switch along the side of the unit.
This 3 in 1 feature makes this a top contender for my favorite vacuum just because it eliminates the need for storing other large appliances built to do a similar job.
But this feature may just be my favorite:
You don’t have to purchase special detergents or soaps to use this machine.
Yes, you read that right. You finally have a floor cleaning machine that doesn’t require the use of special cleansers or water in order to be effective and long-lasting. Users report using a large variety of household cleansers like Bleach solutions, Mr. Clean, Lysol and more.
Because many of us find brands that we love and trust this is ideal. Especially if you are making the switch to chemical free or essential oil cleaning, you don’t have to worry about being reduced to your hands and knees for making a healthy choice.
The Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub is right there no matter what your cleaning preference. It is important to note that if you are using on hardwood floors in your home, many users comment on being careful with this in the scrubbing mode. In scrubbing mode, not only can the unit scratch the hardwoods, but it does tend to really wet the floors.
So, if you have older hardwoods that aren’t properly sealed, water may find itself in the cracks and expand the wood. Users recommend using the washing feature and then taking a few extra moments in the drying mode to really get the floors dry.
Another HUGE bonus of this unit is the incredibly long power cord! At 27ft long it is the first to rival are #1 choice, the Shark Navigator. This means you’ll be cleaning away without looking for a new power source, saving lots of time and frustration in the long run.
It also has a convenient fold-down handle for much easier storage if you live in a small space like I do. I love seeing these household appliance makers be innovative in their uses and storage solutions for their products.
A multi-use product that stores itself? Yes, please!
My biggest Con with this unit: It is really heavy.
This unit is about 23lbs and from what I can tell, that’s empty. Therefore, this unit may not be as easily maneuverable as some of the others we have listed here. It also wouldn’t be a unit you could easily tote up and down multiple levels. Which is a shame because this unit has so much to offer, but being that heavy it makes it really difficult to tote around.

This Bissell product is a multi-tasking master! The Bissell Symphony All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop is the first unit in our line-up that can both vacuum your floors and steam them….at the same time!
This unit comes with all the accessories you need, including 4 reusable and machine washable mop heads. It boasts an easy remove water tank so filling and replacing is a breeze. As always with steam mops, distilled or demineralized water is recommended to preserve the life of the unit.
Users report that this unit can do some light vacuuming to your carpets but generally isn’t powerful enough for any real cleaning if you are moving from tile flooring to carpets. In other words, It may be great for those “oh no company is coming!” moments, but not great for the weekly cleanup.
Things I love about this unit:
I love that this unit can do both functions together or separately depending on the cleaning situation and your current needs. I also love that it is lightweight, coming in at 10lbs. While maintaining a compact design and lightweight build it has a wide mop head for maximum efficiency.
The mop head is 11 inches wide which makes each pass count and really helps save time when you are cleaning your tile floors. It also has a long cord length at 25-foot-long so that it helps keep things moving along since you aren’t searching for a power source or changing batteries!
The biggest complaint (and most common) with this unit is that it doesn’t have a lot of power and that it doesn’t always steam correctly. To elaborate:
Many users report that the vacuum is made to suck up dirt while steaming, however, it often isn’t powerful enough to suck up pebbles or larger particles from the floor. I’m thinking about how this would work in my life and if it can’t pick up cheerios then I am still sweeping the floor first and then mopping, thus missing the entire point of a system that can do both.
Users also comment that while using the functions simultaneously will tend to wet some of the finer dirt and then the machine just tends to push dirt around rather than actually pick it up.
Regarding the steam function complaint: People consistently comment that the machine either doesn’t steam at all or only WARMS the water instead of getting the water hot enough to actually steam and sanitize the floor.
To be honest, this vacuum/steam mop combo SOUNDS great, but it seems to fall short on expectation. It has one of the largest price tags that we’ve seen so far and if I am going to pay that much for a unit I really need it to last a long time and deliver a quality clean for my tile floors.

Our first cordless version is from our friends at Black and Decker. This is the MAX Lithium Flex Vacuum and its best quality is its portability. This vacuum is perfect for small homes that those of us that still want clean tile floors! It has multiple attachment options including a stick vacuum floor head that is perfect for your hard floors, like tiling. It also has a pet hair brush attachment for pet-friendly homes!
I really like that this vacuum can do a little of everything.
This vacuum is cordless, so you are relying on a 20v Lithium-ion battery do maintain your power for suction and power. A full charge can get you anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes of continuous run time, depending on the size of the job and demands put on the unit itself. This is plenty of time for a quick sweep around the kitchen or cleaning out your vehicle.
The battery is designed so you don’t lose suction as the vacuum begins to lose power. Users corroborate that the power lasts throughout the entire usage and they have not had problems with it weakening with usage.
The vacuum has a great 3 stage filtration system that allows for maximum filtration of air moving through the unit and traps the dust and debris inside. The easy to empty canister keeps that debris and dirt right where it belongs, in the trash!
This is by far our lightest vacuum option for your tile floor cleaning. At only 6lbs this is great for portability, up and down stairs, out to the vehicle…etc. It is nice to know that for a decent price, you can get a vacuum that will easily clean all of your floors and will move multiple levels with ease. It has a flexible and extendable 4ft hose that is great for working in corners and up high on ceiling fans and other hard to reach places.
All in all, I am really impressed with this little cordless vacuum. It seems like a great option for cleaning all my floors and the stick wand is really appealing for cleaning tiles in particular. Having the extendable hose and not being confined by a cord sounds really appealing! The price is also more than reasonable for a unit that can basically do it all.
I was skeptical at first about the Lithium Ion battery and how much cleaning time I would actually get, but this affordable little vacuum is well built. Good job Black and Decker!

The Bissell CrossWave has a very unique and innovative way of cleaning the floors while being a multitasking genius!
This unit uses a microfiber, multi-surface brush rolls to polish floors while vacuuming up dirt and debris. This is actually ideal for your tile floors at home because it helps really get to those grout joints and loosen all the fine dirt that can get caught in between.
You can also purchase additional rolls for keeping them in a rotation and washing in between uses. This unit can clean all the floors in your home, but it is specifically built for hard flooring.
I love that this unit can also wash my floors once they have been vacuumed. It cannot operate both functions at the same time but I’m okay with that as long as the unit itself can do the job. It has dual tank technology, so you can always be sure you are washing your floors with fresh water and not dirty water you’ve already used.
There is cleaning solution suggested for purchase with this unit. However, I have found that several users actually use the water tank to make their own simple home mixtures. If you want the unit to last, you will need to use demineralized or distilled water for your mixes.
Many users report using water/vinegar solutions instead of purchasing the cleaning solutions from Bissell. If you don’t like the smell of vinegar you might want to explore the cleaning solution offered instead!
Unfortunately, it seems that this unit’s build is prone to mildew and musty smells. Many users said that in order to keep the smell at bay they have to take the unit apart and make sure they remove the microfiber brush roll after each wet use.
I find this somewhat deterring when considering this vacuum for my floors. While I love that it can do so many functions and that the brush roll is so innovative, I don’t want to turn the vacuum on and have it blowing smelly air into my home. I struggle with my front load washing machine enough to even think about adding another issue appliance!
Additionally, this Bissell vacuum comes with a pretty hefty price tag. This is a budget buster for many families so it is a huge consideration in purchasing. On one hand, you get a lot of options and a multi-tasking tool designed specifically for hard flooring. On the other hand, you have a unit that potentially causes more work (or at least offsets the work it saves during cleaning) by needing to be taken apart to properly dry out and lengthen its overall usability.
This unit is lighter than many of the other multi-tasking units we have considered thus far. At 11lbs it isn’t the lightest, but it is far from the heaviest option on our list. I would say you can expect that this unit is easy to move around and won’t be too difficult to move around the home. Don’t forget, however, that this unit is 11lbs EMPTY and one cleaning solution and/or water is added it will be somewhat heavier.
Overall, this unit is built to clean floors like no other. Many users say this rivals their experiences with commercial cleaners for their tile floors. This is impressive to consider when you compare the price tag of this unit with a commercial cleaning option.

This is the first option on our list that is truly considered “commercial grade”, this machine isn’t TECHNICALLY a vacuum but it can be a great option for those really deep cleans tile floors need every so often. No matter how well you care for tile flooring it has a tendency to suffer in the grout joints and it takes a really deep clean or acid wash to lift the grime and product build up.
The Oreck Commercial Orbiter Floor Machine can be a great option for professionals looking for that deep clean.
My personal favorites of this model are:
This unit is technically a floor buffer so it is made for dry cleaning of floors and using max power to loosen trapped dirt without scratching. The unit works in an oscillating motion maximize power at 175 RPM and works with brushes or pads that are sold separately from the unit.
The head of the unit has a 13 inch cleaning path so each pass has maximum efficiency and time-saving. While I think that this unit is a bit excessive for being your “daily” cleaner, it would be perfect for cleaning professionals or businesses with lots of tile floors to care for.
This unit is commercial grade in the weight it carries as well. At 24lbs this one is going to be a workout to move around and to operate. I know I would have a hard time maneuvering the powerful oscillation with that weight behind it so it is definitely something to consider before purchasing.
The price tag with this unit is to be expected when browsing commercial floor cleaners. It isn’t going to be economical for everyone but in a professional capacity it would certainly impress your clients! The only thing that surprised me about this unit was that for the price you don’t receive any of the accessories or pads to get you started.
The accessory pads are very reasonably priced, however, most being well under $20. I guess the advantage to this is having the ability to customize the clean you need depending on the floor you are intending to use it with. Obviously, the brush you use for a hardwood, a carpet, a tile and when waxing a floor are all different so it does make this unit highly customizable in that sense.

Shark products are usually high quality, affordable, easy to maintain and generally my favorite among vacuum brands. Number 11 on our list of best vacuums for your tile floors is the Shark Rocket PowerHead. This is a lightweight, easy to maneuver and adaptable based on the type of flooring you need to clean.
This Shark vacuum comes with the ability to exchange the brush roll depending on your need. It comes will all the accessory pieces needed and the two brush roll accessories. There is one brush roll specifically designed for hard floors, like your tile floors.
What do I like the most?
This one is great because it is designed to powerfully pick up all the dirt, even in grout joints, and do so without scratching or damaging over time. The second brush roll is designed for carpeting. It is a more aggressive design and is meant to beat the dust and dirt from carpets while you clean.
I love that this unit is only 9lbs and has Shark’s dynamic steering technology. This makes the unit ideal for small spaces, easy to maneuver around furniture and easy to lift if going up and down stairs. I also love that this makes it easy to store and it still has all the power you have come to expect from a Shark product.
The price tag is one of the cheaper options on our list and it still delivers a quality clean you can count on!
In an effort to make the unit thin, lightweight and easy to maneuver, Shark had to sacrifice the space used by the dust/dirt canister. Users complain most that this has to be emptied more frequently than their larger household vacuums.
While I can see this being an annoyance during cleaning I think the fact that this is so small and the complain IS NOT about the power or efficiency of the unit is actually pretty impressive.
Powerfully pick up all the dirt
Only 9lbs and has Shark’s dynamic steering technology
Ideal for small spaces
Easy to maneuver around furniture
Has to be emptied more frequently than larger household vacuums
When I am shopping for a good vacuum, it needs to meet two basic requirements for me:
Personally, I won’t use or purchase a machine that isn’t easy to use. I like the accessories to be easily accessible, easy to attach and for the unit to be easy to transition from using accessories to using it as a standard vacuum. Ease of use is my number one requirement for a good vacuum!
I have long hair and kids, so vacuums go from new to disgusting in just a couple of uses. I need a vacuum that is easy to take apart and clean. Preferably one where the filters can also be cleaned and dried sufficiently to prevent circulating dust or musty smells.
To make my list of “best” vacuum it also must meet the following:
It is important for me personally to have a machine that is easy to use and to maneuver. If the machine is bulky or cumbersome I am more unlikely to bother pulling it out of the closet to use. Or when I do use it, I will hate every second. Cumbersome machines don’t get around furniture or go up/down stairs easily so being lightweight and easy to move is a huge requirement to be a “best” vacuum.
Like many families, we live on a budget and it’s important for me to get quality and affordability in my household products. I am willing to spend a little extra for the right machine but the “best” machines offer a quality that matches or exceeds the price tag attached!
And versatility is a huge bonus! If I can use one machine can clean my carpets, stairs, and tile floors, I am in literal mom heaven! If you feel the same, your best vacuum for tile floors will feature this kind of versatility.
This article is to help serve as a guide when you are considering your next vacuum, especially if you are shopping with tile floors in mind. Tile floors are beautiful, but they are uneven and grout joints have an uncanny knack for trapping fine dirt and looking grungy over time. So, each of these products have been specifically reviewed with tile floors and your family in mind.
Whew!
Who knew just talking about vacuuming could be so exhausting?
Let’s not beat around the bush. We found two vacuums we really liked.
Enough to give them fancy titles.
