The Pioneer TS is a magnificent 6x9 speaker considering the very low price. It weighs 8.2 pounds and sits at 14.4 x 11.2 x 5.5 inches. The speakers come in a multilayer mica-matrix woofer that stays compact even at high volume and also helps to keep the distortion as low as possible. Inside, it’s fitted with a high-temperature voice coil and a rubber speaker surround that makes this system boom especially when connected to a small amplifier.
The Pioneer TS sounds loud and crisp especially when connected to a light-weight amplifier that can push at least 60 Watts of RMS to each channel, preferably in a small enclosure. The mids and highs coming from this audio set are especially outstanding. We found the unit very easy to install as well. The screws in the package are a bit small though and you may need to get additional ones, a small inconvenience considering the price.
However, we found that the Pioneer TS has some trouble maintaining a distortion-free bass when the head unit’s volume goes above 90% when you are not using an amp.
